CBT Courses For London

CBT (Compulsory Basic Training) is the starting point for all learner motorcyclists.
We run courses for London, Middlesex and Surrey borders, with branches at Wimbledon and Wembley. For your convenience, the courses are run seven days a week.
The course starts at 08:45 and runs to approximately 17:30 if you successfully complete all of the modules.

If you have never ridden a motorcycle before, this course will take you right from the start. You do, however, need to be able to ride a bicycle and have a good knowledge of the Highway Code. If you do not have a copy already, you can order one here.
CBT is not a test and there is no exam - it is a course of training you are required to complete satisfactorily. The CBT course syllabus includes five elements and these five elements have to be completed in turn. You can only move on to the next element when your instructor is satisfied you have learnt the necessary theory and demonstrated the practical skills to a safe basic level. You can read one student's account of her training with us from the Daily Telegraph.
Most people do get through CBT on the first attempt, but if you do not, we operate a guaranteed training scheme. When attending for your course, you will need to dress appropriately, bring your UK licence with you (both the paper counterpart and the photocard if it is the photocard licence) and glasses or contact lenses if normally worn.
If you do not have your own motorcycle, we can supply you with one for the day and we have either automatics or manuals available. If you book to use one of our bikes we will also supply you with a motorcycle safety helmet and full cover insurance. If you want to use your own bike for the CBT, many dealers will deliver the bike directly to us for you. Please be aware that you are not legally allowed to ride your bike to us unless you are in possession of one of the following: a valid CBT certificate (for someone just renewing their CBT certificate), a full UK car licence (only if you are going to take the course on a moped and you have held your licence prior to February 2001), a full UK bike licence.
If you are supplying your own bike, you will also need to have valid motorcycle insurance which you can arrange here, valid road tax displayed on the bike, valid MOT certificate (if your bike is more than three years old) and full sized L-plates clearly displayed both front and rear.
