Health
- Eyesight - you must, by law, be able to read (with or without corrective lenses) a number plate at a distance of 66 feet (20 metres) if you intend to take a vehicle out onto public roads. An eyesight test is one of the first parts of the CBT course and your course will be terminated at this point if you fail it. If the eyesight test is failed you will have to pay for another place.
- General fitness - If you have any medical condition (including pregnancy) that may prevent you from riding a vehicle safely on the road, you must seek medical advice before doing so and provide Premier with written evidence. (Cancellation conditions still apply). It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that they are fit to ride a motorcycle/moped.
- Balance - The student will need to have ridden a bicycle or a motorcycle recently (within the past two years) before we can start training. If poor balance is displayed by the student the course will be terminated and the fees lost.
- Physical or Mental impairment – you must advise of any condition that would affect you from fully participating in your course. Premier will not take responsibility in financial or legal way if you have withheld information from us. This will also mean that it could invalidate your insurance.
Licence
It is a condition of participating in any course that the student:
- Is licensed to ride a moped/motorcycle on public roads in the United Kingdom.
- must have their licence when the student attends for a course. It needs to be either a Full or Provisional (UK) driving licence, or a full EU licence with D58/2 (showing valid provisional motorcycle entitlement). If they have the photocard licence, they MUST bring both parts, both the photocard and the paper counterpart licence (D740). No licence means the student cannot attend the course, which is a Driving Standards Agency regulation and the course fees will be forfeit. There are no exceptions. No other documents, photocopies or other evidence of entitlement can be accepted. If you have the old-style paper licence, then that is acceptable on its own, as long as it is intact and legible.
The Student's vehicle
It is a condition of participating in any course that the student will need to display to a Premier Instructor the following items:
- a valid insurance cover note
- a current MOT certificate if applicable (if your bike is over three years old)
- a current road fund licence (tax) displayed on the moped/motorcycle
- fitted front and rear learner plates (full size)
All documents must be the originals; no photocopies or facsimiles can be accepted
Clothing
It is a condition of participating in any course that the student
- Wears suitable protective clothing including a safety helmet, which complies with UK legal requirements (BS6658A or B), or the current European standard of ECE R22.05. If you have arranged to use a Premier motorcycle/moped, we will supply you with one. Premier recommends wearing good quality motorcycle gloves, motorcycle boots, sturdy jacket and trousers.
Premier Equipment / vehicles
- It is not possible to cover Premier radios and helmets by extra insurance and Premier will charge for any damage to its helmets/radios involved in any accident. (£60 each)
- In the event of a mechanical breakdown of an Premier vehicle or other cause, Premier reserves the right to re-arrange or re-book the student at our earliest convenient time.
Guaranteed training scheme
- If a Premier Instructor feels the student needs further training to reach the required standard on Compulsory Basic Training then this will be offered for another date. This will be at a reduced rate. To be eligible for this scheme, you must take your further training within one month of the last course date.
Premier accepts no liability for any claim, loss, damage, or expense incurred by the student as a result of the breach of any of these terms and conditions of the student.
